Dear Colleagues,

Greetings from IADVL Gujarat State Branch.

As you are aware, we have embarked upon a very ambitious and extremely useful project to build & create a new website. We are happy to present a very useful, informative and user friendly website.

We are Association of more than 700 doctors of Modern Medicine specialized in the field of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology in the state of Gujarat.

IADVL GSB has nurtured several generations of doctors in Gujarat State.

The IADVL GSB has served the specialty for more than half a century. It has led by visionaries like late Dr. B.C.Kamdar ( for starting Quarterderm ), Dr. M.G.Desai ( for IADVL GSB Constitution ), Dr. Bharat H. Shah ( For Scientific activities ), Dr.P.B.Haribhakti ( For the first time Gujarat representation ), Dr. Acharya ( For starting Quiz Programme before IADVL starts ) , Dr. Suresh Joshipura ( First National IADVL President from Gujarat ), Dr. Yogesh Marfatia ( Second National President from Gujarat ) and Dr. Chetan N. Patel( For finalization of Constitution and Managing IADVL funds since 1989 ), to name only a few. There are living legends amongst us who have contributed immensely to the growth of Association. Under such dedicated leadership many members have worked hard for the benefit of the society at large.

The academic activities undertaken by IADVL GSB to keep us updated have been ever expanding. Several scientific meet, SIG sessions, regular annual Conferences, Prestigious Orations and Award

Advocacy for the health and welfare of the society is reflected in the prompt manner in which we rally round for a cause. In the past we have witnessed good support in celebration of various days like Leprosy day, Vitiligo day etc.. We also undertake several public awareness programmes.

Community projects like Chalo Gaon ki aur, wherein a village ( Puniad ) is adopted by IADVL Vadodara Branch for its Skin health and other awareness programmes give members a platform to give back to society.

Helping hand of IADVL is best exemplified in its major project. The DVL WELFARE TRUST readily helps members and their spouses in need of finance. IADVL has given us the responsibility for this and we earnestly request all the members to stand for it.

Initially Dr. A.G.Amin had tried to form the Association. However in the initial years Dr. Jatin Sheth and Dr. Mahendra Dhopte successfully formed the Association. In the first ever meeting of all Dermatologist of Gujarat met at Vadodara by the invitation of Dr. Jatin Sheth and Dr. Mahendra Dhopte. Total 37 Dermatologists attended the meeting. Dr. Jatin Sheth was selected as first President and Dr. Mahendra Dhopte as first Hon. Secretary. Next year Dr. P.B. Haribhakti was selected as President of the Association. Third year Dr. Mahendra Dhopte was selected as President and rest is history. You will find the complete list of President and Hon. Secretary on this web.

Since the formation of Association every year Annual Conferences are being organized in different cities of Gujarat. Initially it was for half day and gradually the duration and participation of members increased. Holding regular CMEs and scientific meet which are accredited by the Gujarat Medical Council we helped our members to update their knowledge and skills with the latest global professional standards.

We have hosted National Conference of IADVL on 3 occasions. In 1978 for the first time we hold IADVL National Conference at Ahmedabad. Again we had the opportunity to organize the National Conference at Ahmedabad in 1996. Last time in 2013, we organized the Annual Conference in Ahmedabad

We have local Dermatological Societies in different cities like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot.M embers of these Societies meet every month and exchange informations and recent developments in our specialty.

Dr. B.C.Kamdar ( who was the first member to prepare IADVL Member’s Directory ) who was pioneer in starting Quarterderm, is regularly being published every quarter since 1987. Since then it become the official publication of IADVL GSB.

The Association started with merely around 40 members, now has more than 700 members. Presently the Gujarat State Branch of IADVL is one of the largest branch.

For the past four decades, Gujarat branch of the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists has been functioning as the common forum for the qualified Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists in our state. Working in close association with IADVL , all these years, it has substantially contributed the activities of our mother organization.
